A Perspective on Innovation, Children’s Privacy & Data Protection
Drive innovation using important technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve complex problems. Never ignore the tremendous human cost of unethical deployment or use of technology. Each has an important place in society, but preserving human dignity alongside individual and fundamental rights is essential to the survival of all mankind.
Resilience
Life is about embracing change and reinvention. A lesson on the art of reinvention. While never giving up is indeed a noble principle, perhaps it’s equally important to understand that there may be alternatives rather than embracing a path that will lead towards your inevitable demise. Maybe life’s lesson is about something more than a linear map of the future. Perhaps it’s an awakening to something new as you move through life’s journey.
Curiosity
I am learning to embrace curiosity. Curiosity to me is about the art of reinvention. In some ways, I think it defines much of my life. Waking up each day and trying to see the light at the other side of that tunnel. Everyone copes with pain differently. As a child, I didn’t always appreciate school. Today, I embrace my classical education because it simply is good for my soul.
Creativity
Learning to think outside the box in a way that inspires people is hard. Adhering to one’s values and beliefs while considering unconventional approaches towards problem-solving is even harder. It often involves exploring solutions that may address shared needs, interests, or objectives. While it’s important to choose a path that aligns with your values, we all encounter setbacks. Perhaps it’s wise to find alternative solutions. At the very least, human nature seems to push us forward and ask us to try. I try to maintain a forward-thinking, resilient mindset, but I am mindful that intentions and consequences will invariably matter.
A Perspective on Design
In the United Kingdom’s Age Appropriate Design Code, often referred to as the “Children’s Code,” the often elusive “Best Interest of the Child” standard requires online services to treat the best interest of the child as a primary consideration when designing and developing online services likely to be accessed as a child.
Technology in the Digital Age
“I believe it’s critically important to consider privacy by design alongside issues of trust and safety before bringing consumer products and services to market.”
